Philosophy

It is the counselor’s responsibility to ensure that all students that are enrolled at CRA receive adequate services in regard to career, social/emotional, and educational growth/development.

Mission Statement

Crossroads Academy Counseling Department ¼Helping Students Make Good Choices.

The School Counseling Program at Crossroads Academy facilitates academic success, career development, and personal/social growth in order to increase academic achievement.

Every student at Crossroads Academy has access to the Counseling Department’s resources at any time during every school day.

We offer:

  • Classroom Guidance - Counselors work with students in the classroom setting on many different topics for student growth.
  • Interdisciplinary Curriculum Development - in working with interdisciplinary teams, counselors seek to incorporate guidance curriculum within subject matter curriculum.
  • Group Activities - small groups are often effective and efficient ways to meet student needs.
  • Parent Workshops & Instruction – the counselors often complete intake appointments in which they discuss the expectations of students that are enrolled at CRA as well as transition meetings which highlight the strengths and weaknesses of individual students. The transition meetings are held at CRA and are attended by parents, administrators, and the CRA counseling department.
  • Individual Counseling – students are seen on an appointment basis for individual needs.
  • Crisis Management/Responsive Services – the counseling department is often asked to intervene in situations that require crisis management such as deaths, sudden illnesses of family/loved ones, and any other emergency that may take place during the school day.  In addition, responsive services are situations whereas students need to talk to a counselor immediately about certain issues that may affect their academic performance or the ability to focus on school work due to these issues.
